Autumn at Libra: Growth, Balance, and the Courage to Learn
As autumn settles in and golden leaves mark the halfway point of term, we pause to celebrate achievement, self-discipline, and the quiet power of rest. This season at Libra Education reminds us what true excellence means: balance in effort, ambition grounded in care, and growth built through learning.
Each term carries lessons that extend far beyond academics. Growth at Libra is as much about mindset and movement as it is about mastery. Through reflection, resilience, and purpose, our students discover how learning becomes a lifelong journey filled with meaning and joy.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” - Winston Churchill
Upcoming Study Skills Workshop
Behind every confident learner lies a strong system. Our upcoming Note-Taking and Organisational Skills Workshop is designed to help students develop practical, evidence-based study habits that truly last.
Senior students will meet on Thursday, 13 November at 1:00 pm CET, while junior students will gather on Tuesday, 18 November at 4:00 pm CET.
Together, we will explore how to:
Capture and condense information effectively.
Build personalised systems for revision and time management.
Transform messy notes into structured knowledge that fuels confidence.
Organisation is not about perfection; it is about clarity, focus, and working with the brain’s natural rhythm. Learning how to learn begins with understanding that effective note-taking is a skill that builds long-term success.
Student Sports Spotlight
We are proud to celebrate two Libra students who have earned national recognition in sports. One achieved the title of National Champion in the under-15 tennis category and went on to triumph at the Tennis Europe Championship, representing Libra on an international stage.
Victory in sport mirrors victory in learning; both demand commitment, balance, and focus. These achievements remind our learners that excellence is built through patience, discipline, and joy in the process.
Celebrating Diversity: Spotlight on Spanish-Speaking Literature
Libra Education thrives on diversity: a multicultural community where language, culture, and curiosity shape learning. Each term, we shine a light on a new country to deepen cultural awareness through reading and discussion.
Our current focus turns to Spanish-speaking literature: a world of rhythm, emotion, and history that continues to inspire art and revolution, poetry and science.
Recommended Reads:
KS3: The Invisible Guardian by Dolores Redondo - a suspenseful mystery rooted in Basque mythology.
KS4 & KS5: Kingdom of the Golden Dragon by Isabel Allende - a thrilling adventure exploring courage, friendship, and cultural discovery.
By encouraging our students to read beyond their own worlds, we help them understand how language opens windows to empathy, creativity, and shared humanity. Understanding others begins with curiosity.
The Mindset of Growth: How the Brain Learns Through Mistakes
One of the most powerful lessons we teach at Libra is that the brain grows through correction. Every time a student makes an error and reflects on it, their brain literally rewires itself.
When we realise we have misunderstood something, the brain produces a small electrical signal called the error-related negativity. It is a subtle alert that says, “Wait, this matters.” Through this process, the brain strengthens the neural pathways responsible for learning and mastery.
This mechanism, known as neuroplasticity, is the brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and change. But neuroplasticity only activates when there is friction, reflection, or challenge. Each mistake, handled with curiosity rather than fear, builds resilience and intelligence.
At Libra, we celebrate mistakes as milestones. Every correction, every “I thought I knew but didn’t,” is a victory: proof that learning is alive. It is not about being perfect; it is about progress, courage, and continual growth.
